Wednesdays were now unbearable since the start of the pandemic. Once a week Frank had to go into the downtown office, along with the other staff, all breathing the same cold air through surgical masks since work kept the HVAC’s fans on to circulate the air.
Frank was glad the day was finally over. A slight rain was coming down as he made his way back into his apartment building. He looked in his fridge. Nothing again. It was going to be another DoorDash night. He turned on his smart TV and scrolled to the YouTube app. YouTube had an offering of videos, and something new was on the list. An ASMR video of a red-headed woman kissing you after a hard day of work.
“Well, I’ve had a hard day of work. Why not.” Frank clicked on the video.
The redheaded woman started with a soft voice, describing the relaxation that was about to begin. ASMR kisses were something new to Frank, but he soon became relaxed as the woman’s lips pressed against his cheeks, forehead, and finally his mouth.
It was like having a girlfriend there to kiss him and make him feel better. The video lasted a little over 10 minutes, but it felt like only a few seconds.
Frank thanked the redheaded woman and turned off the TV. He made his way to the fridge, still feeling her kisses on his lips. Maybe there was still some hope for humanity left. Wednesday nights might not be so bad after all.
Wednesday of the Next Week
Frank was in his apartment scrolling through Twitter. He looked up from his smartphone to see a redhead in a raincoat standing in his apartment. “Who are you? How did you get in? What do you want?”
“I’m your girlfriend, Frank.”
“What? What are you talking about?”
“I’m the one who made the ASMR video that you watched last Wednesday night. I wanted to come and kiss you goodnight.”
Frank was in shock. His loneliness had turned him into a desperate man, but he never imagined that his savior would be this beautiful woman.
